Ollie’s Bargain Outlet, Inc. celebrated the grand opening of its new Mount Vernon store on Wednesday, April 15 marking a lively addition to the community’s retail landscape. The event included a ribbon cutting ceremony at 8:45 a.m., exclusive doorbuster deals, and free giveaways available only on opening day.
The new Ollie’s location is at 1550 Coshocton Ave, next to Hibbett in the former Big Lots building. The company said each new store creates up to 50-60 local jobs for positions such as cashiers, managers, and store leaders. Van der Valk said, "Our people are the heart of our business. We’re looking for great talent to join the best and fastest-growing retail team in the country." Interested candidates were encouraged to visit the store or explore open positions online.
Ollie’s operates more than 600 stores across 34 states with over 14,000 associates as of January 31, 2026; it describes itself as a leading off-price retailer offering brand name merchandise at up to 70% below traditional retailers’ prices through closeout merchandise and excess inventory from suppliers worldwide.
