The Kiwanis Club of Mount Vernon announced on March 28 that its recent Pancake Breakfast drew more than 100 attendees and raised over $1,100 in proceeds to benefit children in Knox County, including support for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library.

According to the organization, the event was a success due to community participation and generosity. The funds raised will be directed toward programs serving local children.

Special recognition was given to Lakeholm Church of the Nazarene, Smithhisler Meats, the Key Club, Mount Vernon Fire Department and Knox Community Hospital for their support of the event.

The Dolly Parton Imagination Library is one of the beneficiaries. The program provides free books to children from birth until they begin school.
