The Homer Public Library announced a series of community events scheduled throughout May. Activities include recipe exchanges, educational sessions, crafting workshops, movie screenings, and group discussions.
The month begins with a Recipe Exchange on Friday, May 1 at 11:00 am. Participants are encouraged to bring a dish they disliked as children but enjoy now, along with the recipe. Guests are welcome to attend as taste testers without bringing food.
On Mondays—May 4, 11, and 18 at 10:00 am—Kathy will host GetSetUp meetups focused on exercise and health topics for adults aged 55 and older. There will be no meeting on May 25 in observance of Memorial Day. Other highlights include a Medicare Discussion led by Jason Barber of TLC Insurance Group on Tuesday, May 5 at 11:00 am; Story Time sessions for young children on Wednesdays, May 13 and 20 at 10:00 am; and multiple crafting opportunities such as Crafting with Ann (memory wire bracelet) and Teen Crafting (watercolor bookmark) both on Tuesday, May 12.
Additional programs feature the Homer Homeschoolers session themed "All About the Ocean" on Thursday, May 14 at 10:00 am; Ukulele Association meetings for players of all levels on Thursday evenings; Brunch and a Movie featuring "Green and Gold" (2024) about rural American farmers on Friday, May 15 at 10:00 am; Community of Women gathering Wednesday, May 19 at 2:00 pm; Teen Paint Night Tuesday evening; Teen Movie & Pizza Night showing "Predator: Badlands" (2025) rated PG-13 with pizza served Thursday evening; Licking County Aging Partners meal followed by an exercise program Friday noon; Book Club discussing "Hick" by Sarah Miller Friday morning; and an informal Homer Historical Society discussion Friday afternoon.
Registration is required for some activities such as crafting workshops and movie nights.
