Community members are invited to enjoy an evening of laughter, friendly competition, and fundraising during the annual PELiA Equine Donkey Ball Fundraiser, set for Saturday, April 18, at the Danville High School gym.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the action begins at 7 p.m., with proceeds supporting Positive Equine Learning in Action (PELIA) and its programs that promote growth, learning, and connection through equine experiences.
The Donkey Ball event will have three entertaining games throughout the evening, including a senior team matchup and a staff-versus-staff contest, followed by a championship game between the two winners. Known for its lighthearted atmosphere and unforgettable moments, donkey basketball brings plenty of laughs for players and spectators alike while supporting a meaningful cause in the community. Families are encouraged to attend together and cheer on their favorite teams from the stands.
"Join the fun, spread the word, and help us continue making a difference," PELiA said, noting that the event is a "fun and meaningful way to give back."
"This is a great opportunity to support PELiA Equine, a local nonprofit dedicated to working with youth in our community," the organizers said. "Every dollar raised goes directly back into their programs, helping make a lasting impact in the lives of young people."
In addition to the games, attendees can enjoy concessions throughout the evening and browse a silent auction featuring a variety of donated items. One of the night’s highlights will be the return of Donkey Plop Bingo, a popular fundraiser activity offering a chance to win cash prizes. Tickets for Plop Bingo are $10 each, with a grand prize of $500 and two runner-up prizes of $125. Participants do not need to be present at the event to win, making it easy for supporters near and far to take part.
Children ages 12 and younger will also have the opportunity to enjoy a free donkey ride at halftime, adding an extra layer of excitement for younger attendees and families. A 50/50 raffle will also be held during the evening, giving guests another way to contribute while possibly taking home a prize.
Advance tickets for both Donkey Ball and Donkey Plop Bingo are available now, with a convenient Venmo option offered for early purchase. Organizers encourage community members to reserve their spots soon and invite friends and family to attend what promises to be one of the year’s most entertaining and meaningful local events supporting PELIA’s mission.
PELiA is a well-established equine program that supports youth through a variety of engaging and educational programs.
