The Fredericktown Local School District has recently announced that students will not be required to make up calamity days for the 2025-2026 school year.
The decision comes on the heels of a review of their total instructional hours, which revealed that the hours exceed what is required to complete this school year.
"We would like to provide an update regarding this year’s school calendar and the use of calamity days. Due to the unusually challenging winter weather, our district used more calamity days than anticipated," the district stated. "However, after carefully reviewing our total instructional hours, we are pleased to share that we have still exceeded the state’s required number of instructional hours for the school year."
That review provided clarity on the district’s instructional standing and set the stage for its final decision regarding make‑up days.
"As a result, the district has decided that it will not be necessary to schedule make-up days for the missed time," the district said addresseing the families. "This allows us to maintain our current calendar without extending the school year."
