Knox County Job & Family Services, in partnership with the Ohio District 5 Area Agency on Aging, Inc., will host a Free Lunch & Learn on Friday, March 20, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the First Church of the Nazarene, 807 Coshocton Avenue, Mount Vernon, Ohio.
The program, "Protecting the Older Adults of Knox County," is designed for professionals who serve older adults, caregivers, family members, and adults aged 60+. Attendees will gain valuable insights into local programs and resources that help keep older adults safe as they age. The session will also highlight how to recognize real estate “red flags” that could put older adults at risk, an increasingly important issue as scams and exploitation target vulnerable populations.
The event will feature two presenters: Richard Meeker, MA, MSW, LISW‑S, Adult Protective Services Supervisor with the Ohio District 5 Area Agency on Aging, and Jami Kinton‑Sluss, Co‑Owner and Marketing Director of Sluss Realty. Together, they will provide practical guidance and professional expertise, blending perspectives from social services and real estate to give attendees a well‑rounded understanding of the challenges older adults face.
Fresh boxed lunches will be catered by Lannings, offering participants both nourishment and networking opportunities.
This Lunch & Learn offers more than just information; it provides practical tools, community connection, and a shared commitment to protecting Knox County’s older adults. By bringing together caregivers, professionals, and community members, the event reinforces the importance of collaboration in safeguarding the dignity and safety of aging residents.
