The Licking County Board of Commissioners approved nearly $6 million in Senior Citizen Levy allocations for 2026 during its March 5 meeting, directing funds to 17 social groups and service providers.
According to the board’s agenda packet, the Senior Citizens Levy Advisory Board met on Feb. 5 to hear presentations from applicants who completed the funding process. After deliberations, the advisory board presented its recommendations to the commissioners on Feb. 26. The commissioners then voted to adopt those recommendations. Funding will be distributed quarterly in March, June, September, and December, with the exception of JFS Fiscal & Programmatic Services.
The allocations span a wide range of services, from transportation and adult protective programs to community centers and senior activity groups.
The agencies receiving allocations include Catholic Social Services -- Supportive Services ($175,500), Catholic Social Services -- Transportation Services ($205,725), Licking County Community Center ($117,000), JFS Adult Protective Services ($63,375), and LEADS ($243,750).
Other recipients are Licking County Aging Program ($4.875 million), Licking County Transit ($146,250), St. Vincent Haven ($39,000), Together We Grow ($7,800), Alexandria Buckeyes ($13,650), and Buckeye Lake Seniors ($9,750).
Additional groups funded include Johnstown Area Seniors ($13,650), Licking County Coalition of Care ($39,000), Licking Valley Activity Group ($7,800), Summit Seniors ($4,875), Utica Friendly Seniors ($13,650), and JFS Fiscal & Programmatic Services ($5,000).
