Public libraries collect new stuffed animals for Knox children | Danville Public Library

The Danville Public Library announced that libraries across Knox County are collecting new stuffed animals this month to brighten the season for local children through the “Bunnies for Babes” drive.

The collection runs March 2–27, with drop‑off locations at the Public Library of Mount Vernon and Knox County, Fredericktown Community Library, Gambier Community Library, and the Danville Public Library. Organizers said all donations must be new stuffed animals, which will be distributed to children throughout the county.

Residents in need of stuffed animals for their children are encouraged to contact Lisa at 740‑392‑2665 ext. 8236.

The “Bunnies for Babes” campaign has become a seasonal tradition in Knox County, highlighting the role of local libraries as connectors between resources and families. By partnering with residents, the libraries aim to ensure that every child has the chance to experience the joy of receiving a gift.

Community members are asked to participate by purchasing and donating new stuffed animals at any of the designated library locations. As the collection continues through March 27, organizers hope to see strong community engagement.

Included in the Danville Public Library's March event is its weekly Storytime sessions, held every Monday morning through May 18, 2026.

Storytime runs from 9:15 to 10 a.m. at the library and is free and open to children ages 3–6. Each session features a story followed by either a craft or a game, giving young participants a chance to enjoy reading while engaging in creative play.

Parents and guardians may register by stopping by the library or calling 740‑599‑2665. Organizers emphasized that the program is open to all families in the community and encourages early sign‑ups to ensure space.

The Danville Public Library has long offered programs for children and families, with Storytime serving as a cornerstone of its youth engagement efforts. By combining reading with interactive activities, the library aims to nurture a love of learning and strengthen community ties.
