The Licking County Board of Commissioners received bids of $1.2 million and $1.57 million for its Transit Facility Addition during its Feb. 3 meeting.
The project involves expanding and reconfiguring the county's existing vehicle maintenance facility at 763 E. Main St., Newark. According to bid submission documents prepared by Star Consultants of Columbus, Ohio, the scope includes construction of a new service bay addition, relocation of current maintenance operations to the new area, and conversion of the existing maintenance space into a dedicated vehicle wash bay (according to Star Consultants).
Robertson's alternates with its bid were $76,300, $30,400, and $211,300—higher than Miles McClellan's alternates at $69,500, $20,800, and $65,000 (according to the updated meeting agenda). An addendum to plans and specifications issued by Star Consultants on Nov. 14, 2025 set the estimated cost for the project at $1.43 million. Alternate 1 in which the contractor would provide and install a generator was estimated at $70,000 (according to an addendum).
The same addendum specified that Alternate 3 was to be a touchless air dryer system; Alternate 1 included general labor and materials; and Alternate 2 involved providing and installing an electric heated curtain (according to the addendum).
