A new adaptation of "The Yellow Wallpaper" is set to premiere at the Woodward Opera House in Mount Vernon, Ohio. Directed by Hannah Marshall, the production is part of "A Night of One Acts," which will run from February 27 to March 1. The play, adapted by Kathryn Funkhouser from Charlotte Perkins Gilman's story, features Eleanor discovering a hidden diary that reveals a family secret and danger close to home.
Alongside this psychological thriller, the event will also feature "Our Place" by Terry Wayne Gabbard. This play uses a dock on a small lake as the setting for five different stories where characters explore humor and tragedy to uncover the meaning of their shared space.
Tickets for the performances are priced at $10 and can be purchased at mtvarts.com. The event is produced in collaboration with Stage Partners and Dramatics Publishing. In addition to enjoying the plays, attendees have an opportunity to purchase ads in the One Acts Playbill, with options ranging from $75 for a business card size to $150 for a quarter page. Purchasers before Monday receive two complimentary tickets.
Upcoming events at MTVarts include auditions for productions such as "To Kill A Mockingbird," "Grease," and "The Wizard of Oz." Details about these auditions and other workshops are available on their website.
