Kenyon College will host the Winter Concert on January 31 at 7:30 p.m. in Rosse Hall, Gambier, Ohio. The event is organized by the Knox County Symphony and will feature performances from winners of the Young Musicians Competition.
The program includes Johannes Brahms' "Academic Festival Overture" and "Jupiter" from Gustav Holst's "The Planets." Performers include Megan Dellenbaugh, a soprano from Kenyon College, who will sing "Trees on the Mountain" by Carlisle Floyd. Ethan Manske, also from Kenyon College, will perform Max Bruch's "Romance for Viola and Orchestra." Archimedes Meyer from Mount Vernon High School will play Georg Philipp Telemann's "Concerto for Viola in G Major."
Other performances include Jo-Ann Odonkor from St. Francis DeSales High School playing Franz Joseph Haydn's "Piano Concerto in D Major," Bea Sjostrom from Kenyon College performing Camille Saint-Saëns' "Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso," and Claire Vallance from Mount Vernon Nazarene University with Richard Strauss' "Horn Concerto No. 1 in E-flat Major."
A reception sponsored by Sarah Mankins and Brian Ball will follow the concert. Season tickets are available now, while individual tickets can be purchased at the door. More information can be found on their website.
