Pataskala Rotary is rolling through summer with two community‑focused initiatives—the Sip & Savor Trail, already underway since June, and the upcoming Chalk the Walk event on July 17 at Veteran’s Green.
Pataskala’s Sip & Savor Trail, which launched in June, is giving residents a months‑long opportunity to visit local businesses, collect stamps and earn prizes. The community promotion, organized by the Pataskala Rotary Club, runs through Dec. 31 and encourages participants to explore a wide mix of restaurants, shops and cafés across the city.
Participants begin by picking up a trail book at any participating location. Each stop requires a purchase, which earns a stamp in the book. Six stamps qualify participants for an immediate prize, while 12 stamps enter them into a drawing for a gift card. The first person to turn in a completed six‑stamp book also receives a gift card. Completed books must be submitted at the front desk of the YMCA.
The trail includes a social media component. Residents are encouraged to share their stops on Facebook using the #SipandSavor hashtag. According to organizers, the participant with the most tagged posts will receive a gift card, blending in‑person visits with online engagement throughout the second half of the year.
A broad lineup of local businesses is featured on the trail, including Capuano’s, Ziggy’s, Porter’s, The Nutcracker, Rusty’s Wharf, Robey’s Pub, Cumberland Trail, Lori’s Bake Shoppe, Depot Pub n Grub, Dickey’s, Elliot’s, Pataskala Meats, True Core, Wings Etc. and Griffin’s Floral. Rotary leaders say the variety is intended to encourage residents to revisit familiar favorites or try new stops.
The Rotary is also hosting a second community event this month. On July 17, from 4 to 7 p.m., residents are invited to Veteran’s Green for Chalk the Walk, held in conjunction with the Pataskala Farmers Market. Chalk will be provided on‑site, and participants of all ages can decorate the sidewalks with artwork and messages promoting peace, kindness, unity and community pride. The event is free to join and encourages visitors to enjoy the market while helping fill the walkways with uplifting, creative displays.
With July underway, both initiatives aim to strengthen community engagement and support local businesses. Trail books remain available, and Chalk the Walk is set to bring additional activity to Veteran’s Green later this month.
