Commissioner Rick Black | Licking County

The Licking County Commission awarded a $649,470 bid from for 5,100 feet of waterline in the Jacksontown area from Hazen Services of Zanesville, Ohio, during its Jan. 22 meeting.

According to the meeting agenda, the county received 12 bids for this waterline project. The bids ranged from Hazen's low bid of $649,700 to a high bid of $997,270 from Double Z Construction. The engineer's estimate for the project was set at $890,000.

The agenda indicates that Verdantas, the county's project engineer, reviewed all submitted bids and recommended awarding the contract to Hazen Services. Verdantas staff have previously collaborated with Hazen on various waterline and street projects that yielded successful outcomes. Additionally, Licking County's Water and Wastewater Department has previously engaged Hazen for certain projects.

The agenda further states that work on this project is expected to be substantially completed within 150 calendar days from the start date specified in the notice to proceed.

Phase I of this initiative involves installing approximately 5,100 feet of 8-inch and 6-inch PVC waterline, along with valves, hydrants, and service connections within the Jacksontown area.
