The Knox County Foundation is accepting applications for its Youth Philanthropy Internship Program (YPI), a paid summer internship aimed at connecting college students with local nonprofits. The program, which lasts eight weeks, is open to students entering their junior or senior year in the fall of 2026. Participants will work with nonprofit organizations in Knox County, gaining experience in areas such as operations, community engagement, marketing, event planning, and project leadership.

Interns can earn up to $3,000 over the summer while acquiring hands-on experience. Kara Ernsberger, Program Coordinator at the Knox County Foundation, said: "This program is about investing in our young people and showing them the meaningful philanthropic and professional opportunities that exist right here in Knox County." She expressed hope that the experience would inspire students to maintain ties with the community after graduation.

Interns will be assigned to nonprofit host organizations where they will engage in activities like supporting events and creating marketing materials. They will also participate in site visits and networking opportunities throughout Knox County. Nonprofits interested in hosting an intern must submit an application detailing responsibilities and qualifications by April 1st.

For more information or to apply for the program, visit their website. The YPI initiative demonstrates the foundation's dedication to nurturing future philanthropic leaders while bolstering local nonprofits and the community.
