MVNU appoints new executive director for HR and training

Mount Vernon Nazarene University (MVNU) has appointed Dr. Joshua J. Black as the new Executive Director of Human Resources and Training & Development, effective immediately. Dr. Carson Castleman, President of MVNU, expressed enthusiasm about the appointment, stating, "We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Josh Black to the MVNU community as our new Executive Director of Human Resources and Training & Development." He highlighted Dr. Black's extensive experience in human resources and Christian higher education.

Dr. Black previously served as Executive Director of Lee Online at Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee, where he led efforts to improve digital learning experiences globally. His tenure there was marked by recognition for excellence in digital education. Before joining Lee University, he held leadership roles at Indiana Wesleyan University.

Dr. Black holds a Doctorate in Organizational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University and has been active in the Christian Adult Higher Education Association Leadership Council. He is also an ordained bishop in the Church of God.

Dr. Castleman noted that Dr. Black's commitment aligns with "The MVNU Way," emphasizing people-centered values and organizational culture development.

In his new role at MVNU, Dr. Black will manage various aspects of human resources including policy development and employee relations.

His wife, Dr. Michaelia Black, currently an Assistant Professor of Accounting at Lee University, will join him in Mount Vernon after completing her contract.
