Mount Vernon High School will host its first blood drive of the year on Friday, Jan. 23, inviting students, staff and community members to help support the American Red Cross in its mission to save lives.

The blood drive will take place from 12 to 5 p.m. at the Glenn A. Gallagher Event Centre, located on the Ohio Eastern Star campus, 1451 Gambier Road in Mount Vernon. Organizers encourage community participation, noting that a single blood donation can help save multiple lives.

Those who donate between Jan. 1 and Jan. 25 will also be entered for a chance to win a trip for two to Super Bowl LX in California, adding an extra incentive for first-time and returning donors alike.

Appointments can be scheduled online at RedCrossBlood.org using the sponsor code MVHS. Donors are also encouraged to save time on the day of the event by completing RapidPass, which allows participants to begin the check-in process ahead of arrival.

The Jan. 23 blood drive follows a previous Mount Vernon community blood drive held Dec. 26 at the Mount Vernon Grand Hotel, continuing local efforts to maintain a strong and reliable blood supply.

Community members who are eligible to donate are encouraged to take part and make a meaningful impact through this lifesaving effort.

Mount Vernon High School hosted multiple blood drives over the past year, continuing its commitment to community service.
