Food for the Hungry - Mount Vernon has expressed gratitude to its supporters in a recent thank-you letter from its Board President, Austin Swallow. The organization highlighted the success of its 2025 Food For The Hungry Drive, which raised $381,997.96 and collected 23.5 truckloads of food as of December 30, 2025.
Swallow acknowledged the challenging times faced during the drive but emphasized the significant impact made by volunteers and donors. "Whether you volunteered at one of the many, many events that make up our annual drive or supported us with a donation, YOU helped make the difference!" he said.
The contributions have aided several agencies, including Interchurch Social Services offices in Mount Vernon, Centerburg, Danville, and Fredericktown, as well as the Salvation Army staff led by Captain Christine Moretz. These efforts are part of Food for the Hungry's mission to support individuals and families in Knox County facing food insecurity.
The letter also praised Knox Countians for their generosity and partnership in disrupting poverty cycles through collaboration with key partner agencies.
