East Knox Board will set new year plans and approve personnel changes

The East Knox Board of Education will hold its regular meeting on December 10, 2025, at the elementary cafeteria. The meeting will be conducted to address various school district matters and will include time for public participation as outlined in the agenda.

Board President Lindsay Bush will initiate the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance and will read the vision, mission, and core values of the East Knox Local School District, which will emphasize blending traditions with future visions, preparing students for lifelong excellence, and fostering a safe community.

The board will approve the agenda as presented. A presentation will be given by Mr. Aaron Hinchliffe from OSBA, followed by public participation in accordance with Board Policy #0169.1.

Treasurer recommendations will include approving minutes from the November 13, 2025, meeting and accepting the November financial report. Building reports will be presented for both elementary and Jr./Sr. high schools.

Superintendent recommendations will involve setting an organizational meeting for January 8, 2026, along with a budget hearing that will be advertised in the Mount Vernon News on December 20, 2025. Other approvals will include graduation recognition for Gabriel William Foote and purchasing Motorola radios with partial funding from a BWC School Safety Grant.

Further approvals will cover temperature controls work by Ameresco and an agreement with Dyslexia on Demand for therapy services not exceeding $6,000. Personnel changes will be discussed, including rescinding Cody Howard's contract as JH Girls Basketball Coach and accepting resignations from Madison Eyler and Tom Holton effective December 31, 2025.

Additional personnel decisions will include appointing Jaimye Weaver as a long-term substitute teacher starting January 5, 2026, at $125 per day. Substitute teachers Jaylene Flint and Tiffany Davis will be approved, alongside Marjorie Williams' placement on the classified substitute list.

Supplemental contracts for volunteer roles in girls swimming will be approved for Darrick Faucett and Anthony Springer. An executive session will be recommended to discuss employment matters before the meeting is adjourned.
