The Public Library of Mount Vernon & Knox County is hosting a series of events for adults throughout December 2025. These activities, which are free and open to the public, aim to engage the community in various interests.

Starting December 1, the Winter Reading Challenge invites adults to read six books on specified topics. Participants can pick up a reading log at any library branch and submit it by February 28, 2026, for a chance to win a Visa gift card valued at $75, $50, or $25.

The Spice Blend of the Month for December is Vanilla Bean Powder. Available from December 1 at the Main Circulation Floor, each bag includes a recipe and information about the spice. Supplies are limited to one per person.

On December 2, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., the library will screen "Miracle on 34th Street" as part of its Silver Screeners series. This classic film stars Edmund Gwenn and Maureen O’Hara.

A holiday craft session led by Sabrina Schirtzinger from OSU Knox County Extension Services will take place on December 3 from 10:00 a.m. to noon. Participants will create live greenery centerpieces with materials provided.

For writers, an All Write! workshop will be held on December 3 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., offering exercises and peer support.

Retro Cinema will feature "The Santa Clause" starring Tim Allen on December 9 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

A local history event focusing on Knox Memorial Theater's centennial is scheduled for December 10 at 6:30 p.m., inviting attendees to share memories and learn about its history.

Knox County Conversations on December 11 from noon to 1:00 p.m. offers discussions over soup about past events and future topics of interest.

On December 16, "Red One," featuring JF Simmons and Dwayne Johnson, will be shown as part of Main Movie Night from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

An Adult Craft and Conversation session will occur on December 18 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., where participants can work on personal crafts or enjoy provided coloring pages.

The final Nonfiction Book Discussion of the year takes place on December 22 at the Solarium from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., allowing attendees to discuss any book they choose.

Lastly, the library's podcast "What Are You Reading?" will release its November edition online on December 29 at https://www.plmvkc.org/. Christie and Katie will discuss two crime-themed books by Ally Carter and Otto Penzler.
