Mount Vernon hosts festive events including pictures with Santa and Festival of Lights

The Mount Vernon Grand Hotel is set to host a "Pictures with Santa" event, offering families an opportunity to meet Santa Claus. This free event is part of the Winter in Downtown series presented by Park National Bank. The event will take place on December 10 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at the hotel's lower lobby.

In addition, Knox Community Hospital is sponsoring the Festival of Lights, which includes a lighting competition open for registration until December 8. Categories include Best Business/Store Front and Best Classic White Light Display.

Local businesses and individuals can sponsor downtown winter pole banners for $275 and $175 respectively, with limited spaces available until December 12.

Several events are scheduled throughout December in Mount Vernon. On December 6, The Station Break will hold a Breakfast with Santa fundraiser at its location on Howard Street, with a suggested donation of $10 per person. The same day, the Mount Vernon Holiday Farmers Market will be held at Habitat for Humanity.

The Central Ohio Youth Ballet will present "The Nutcracker" at The Woodward Opera House on December 6 and 7. Tickets are available online.

From December 12 to 14, the city-wide Festival of Lights will take place, featuring holiday music broadcasted by WNZR 90.9 FM on December 13 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.

Other notable events include another Breakfast with Santa on December 13 at Knox Memorial and a screening of "The Muppet Christmas Carol" on December 21 at Knox Memorial.
