The Psi Iota Xi Knox County Elementary School Drive is set to begin on November 17, with support from the Psi Iota Xi Sorority. The initiative will contribute to the 44th annual Food For The Hungry Drive. Schools in the Mount Vernon area, including The Knox Learning Center and Mount Vernon Middle School's sixth grade, along with Centerburg, Danville, and East Knox elementary schools, will participate by collecting donations. Each classroom will have collection boxes available from November 17 to November 21.

The most needed items for local pantries include canned fruits and vegetables, soup (preferably pop-top cans or packages), canned meals like ravioli and Spaghetti-Os, baked beans, and canned meat. While non-food donations are accepted, cash contributions are preferred because every dollar donated equates to $4.56 in purchasing power through the Mid-Ohio Collective. Donations should be made payable to Food For The Hungry.

Donations collected at each school will remain within their respective communities. Students are encouraged to understand that everyone can make a difference and that collective efforts strengthen the community. Classrooms contributing the most food items per student will receive a pizza party sponsored by Psi Iota Xi. Top donors from each school will be recognized during the Food For The Hungry broadcast at the Knox County Memorial Building on December 13.

Students' contributions will be acknowledged via a live video stream at www.mvnu.tv and on radio stations 100.9 FM and 93.7 HD2 - WMVO, with updates provided on WNZR and 93.7 the Super Q.
