The Mount Vernon Nazarene University women's basketball team secured a victory against West Virginia Tech with a final score of 84-61. The game took place on Saturday, November 8, in Beckley, West Virginia.

West Virginia Tech initially led the game with a score of 12-8 in the first quarter. However, MVNU quickly responded with Anna Swisshelm's three-point shot, which put them ahead at 13-12. The Lady Cougars maintained their lead throughout the first quarter, ending it at 23-21 after Kylie Leibacher's two free throws.

In the second quarter, MVNU extended its lead to ten points by halftime, thanks to Angela Roshak's free throws. The third quarter saw Swisshelm contributing significantly by scoring half of the team's points for that period and ending it with a twenty-point lead at 68-48.

The fourth quarter highlighted Melodie Blubaugh's layup that pushed MVNU to its largest lead of thirty points. Despite West Virginia Tech's efforts to narrow the gap, MVNU concluded the game with an 84-61 win.

Swisshelm was pivotal in the offense with a career-high of 28 points and seven rebounds. Roshak added 17 points and led in rebounds with eleven. Lily Shepherd contributed twelve points and five assists while maintaining perfect accuracy from the free throw line.

MVNU demonstrated effective ball movement with 25 assists and out-rebounded Tech by six boards. Coach VanHoose expressed pride in his team's performance and looks forward to building on this victory.

Mount Vernon Nazarene University will host Kentucky Christian University on Friday, November 14, at Ariel Arena as part of their homecoming weekend celebrations.
