Mount Vernon High School launches food drive aiming for 25,000 donations

K-12 Schools

Mount Vernon High School has started a food drive to help students and families in need as winter approaches. The school aims to collect 25,000 food items through the effort.

All donated items will be given directly to Mount Vernon High School students and their families. If there are extra donations, these will be shared with the local food pantry for wider community support. Details about which items are needed can be found in the Families Weekly Update newsletter.

The school encourages anyone able to contribute to send requested items with their student or drop them off at the main office. For those who know of a student or family needing assistance, referrals can be made confidentially by contacting Mr. Caughlan via email. Students seeking support may also reach out to their guidance counselor, an administrator, or Mrs. Luckey, the school social worker.

After one week, nearly 3,100 items have been collected and hundreds already distributed to families in need. Those interested in donating can contact Mrs. Jacklyn LeMaster or Mrs. Patricia Jackson by email.

"Let’s come together to ensure every MVHS family has what they need this winter. Every item counts — thank you for your generosity!"
