The Mount Vernon Nazarene University (MVNU) women's basketball team faced a challenging game against Olivet Nazarene University during the Chick-Fil-A Classic. The match concluded with MVNU falling short by a score of 87-76, despite trailing only 41-30 at halftime.
Olivet's aggressive full-court pressure resulted in 31 turnovers from MVNU, which were converted into 35 points. However, MVNU demonstrated resilience by outrebounding Olivet 57-41 and securing 14 second-chance points. They also had a higher shooting percentage from the field, making 42.4% of their shots compared to Olivet's 34.5%.
Kylie Leibacher was the standout player for MVNU, scoring 21 points on efficient shooting and contributing six rebounds and five assists. Angela Roshak added 11 points, eight rebounds, and four blocks. Melodie Blubaugh provided significant support off the bench with her 11 points and three rebounds.
Lily Shepherd led the team in rebounds with ten, while Olivia Skillings contributed across various statistics with eight points, five rebounds, four assists, three blocks, and two steals.
MVNU is set to play next against Indiana University East on November 4 in Richmond, Indiana.
