Mount Vernon Nazarene University will host the 2025 District 10 Ohio Music Education Association Honors Choir Festival on November 1. The event will take place in Mount Vernon, Ohio, and feature young vocalists from eight counties, including Ashland and Coshocton. Students from 33 schools are set to participate.
The festival includes high school and middle school honor choirs. Participation requires nomination by a director. The day starts with instruction and ends with a concert at 3:30 p.m. in the R.R. Hodges Chapel/Auditorium on the MVNU campus. The concert is free for the public.
Amy Johnston Blosser will lead the high school choir. She has been Choral Director at Bexley High School for 23 years, conducting multiple choirs and serving as music director for musicals. Her choirs have performed nationally and internationally, earning her recognition such as Bexley Schools’ Educator of the Year in 2011.
Dr. Barbara Lamont will direct the middle school choir. She is Southeast Missouri State University's director of choral activities, conducting ensembles and teaching music education and conducting courses. Dr. Lamont is also known for integrating yoga into choral singing practices.
Mount Vernon Nazarene University is a private Christian university offering undergraduate and graduate programs to nearly 2,200 students from various states and countries.
