Food for the Hungry, in collaboration with Knox County Foundation, Interchurch Social Services, and other community partners, is organizing a food distribution event to assist families experiencing food insecurity. The event will take place on Saturday, November 1st, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Habitat for Humanity located at 405 W. Chestnut Street, Mount Vernon.
The initiative targets Knox County families whose income is at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level. Those interested in determining their eligibility can reach out to Carolyn Fergus of Interchurch Social Services at (740-397-4825).
Volunteers are also being sought to help with organizing and distributing food on the day of the event. Individuals or organizations willing to contribute their time between 8 am and 1 pm can contact Lisa Loyd from Knox County Foundation via email at lisa@knoxcf.org. "Whether you can give a full morning or just an hour, your help makes a real difference," said Loyd.
