The Mount Vernon City Schools Board of Education will hold its regular meeting on October 23, 2025, at the Energy Fieldhouse in Mount Vernon, Ohio. The board members expected to be present include President Jody Goetzman, Vice President Tim Workman, and members Margie Bennett, Mary Rugola-Dye, and Jeff Ward. Judy Forney will serve as Treasurer.
The meeting will open with routine formalities such as the Pledge of Allegiance and roll call. The board will approve minutes from previous meetings held on September 29 and October 8, 2025.
Student Government Senior Class President Cooper Cuny will present a report, along with April Thompson from MVEA and Mike Lang from OAPSE. Public participation will be governed by Board Bylaw 0169.1, allowing limited time for community input.
Superintendent William Seder Jr. will provide updates on district policies covering various areas, including nondiscrimination and school safety. The board will review policy updates during this session.
A proposal will be presented for a Ski Club trip to Seven Springs Mountain Resort in Pennsylvania, scheduled for January 18, 2026. Christine Keaton is expected to lead the trip for students in grades six through twelve.
Financial matters will also be discussed, including approval of the September financial report and acceptance of donations totaling $1,000 from Gay Street United Methodist Church for PBIS Rewards at Pleasant Street School.
Facility use requests will be reviewed for local organizations such as Knox County Special Olympics and Mt. Vernon Club Basketball. Rockmill Financial Consulting Services will request to continue providing financial guidance to the district.
In personnel matters, retirements will be announced for Guinn Bandy and Kristine Tier, effective at the end of the school year. Requests for substitute teachers, supplemental contracts, and volunteer positions in wrestling will also be considered.
The meeting will conclude if no executive session is required, adjourning after all agenda items have been addressed.
