Mount Vernon Nazarene University will host a faculty voice recital featuring Dr. Cynthia Mahaney, a soprano, on Sunday, October 26, at 3 p.m. The event will be held in Thorne Performance Hall located within the R.R. Hodges Chapel/Fine Arts Building. This free concert is open to the public.
The program, titled "Sing Me To Heaven," will include music in observance of All Saints’ Day with pieces by composers such as Gabriel Fauré, Stefano Donaudy, Richard Strauss, John Ness Beck, and George Gershwin. Dr. Mahaney will perform a duet with mezzo-soprano Dr. Rebecca Abbott and will be accompanied on piano by Mrs. Charla Dryburgh.
Dr. Mahaney serves as the coordinator of the voice area and an adjunct faculty member for private voice and voice class at Mount Vernon Nazarene University. She also teaches at Kenyon College and other institutions in Columbus and is involved in various musical activities including adjudication and performing with Opera Columbus and other opera companies.
