Taylor University wins close volleyball match against Mount Vernon Nazarene University

The Mount Vernon Nazarene University (MVNU) women's volleyball team, ranked No. 13, faced off against No. 21 Taylor University in a competitive match on Saturday, October 11. The game took place at Taylor University's home court and extended to five sets, with Taylor emerging victorious.

Taylor University won the first set 25-22. MVNU responded by winning the second set 30-28 and continued their momentum into the third set with a 25-20 victory, taking a 2-1 lead in the match. However, Taylor equalized by winning the fourth set 25-17 and secured the final set with a narrow 15-13 win.

Faith Maloney led MVNU's efforts with 17 kills and eight digs. Evelyn Brown contributed with 15 kills, four digs, and two blocks. Libby Evanshine added another 12 kills for MVNU. On defense, Jaelyn Tang recorded 25 digs, Reagan Nuss had 16 digs along with her impressive tally of 51 assists and three kills. Ashley Merrick added 14 digs while Morgan Schlabach and Kate Ruffle contributed with 12 and 10 digs respectively.

MVNU is scheduled to play next at Huntington University on Wednesday, October 15 at Huntington, Indiana.
