The Public Library of Mount Vernon & Knox County is hosting a series of movie nights this October, featuring films from different eras and genres. The events are free and open to the public, taking place in the library's Multipurpose Room.

The first screening, "The Misfits," will be shown on Tuesday, October 7 at 7:00 p.m. This 1961 film, written by Arthur Miller, marks the final screen appearance for Hollywood icons Clark Gable and Marilyn Monroe. The story explores themes of wild mustangs as a metaphor for its characters' struggles.

On Tuesday, October 14 at 7:00 p.m., the library will present "Legend," a fantasy film from 1985 starring Tom Cruise. In this movie, Cruise's character battles darkness to save his love and the last unicorns. Tim Curry's role as the villain contributed to the film's Oscar nomination for best makeup.

The final movie night on Tuesday, October 28 at 7:00 p.m. will feature "Death of a Unicorn," a horror comedy with Paul Rudd and Jenna Ortega. Unlike traditional portrayals of unicorns, this film presents a darker twist on the mythical creature. The movie is rated R, requiring minors to be accompanied by an adult.

Library patrons attending these events are advised to exit through the back parking lot after hours. For further details about these screenings or other library programs, individuals can visit the library's website or follow their social media accounts @PLMVKC.
