The Village of Utica will mark 106 years of community celebration this fall with its annual Homecoming Festival, themed “Through the Looking-Glass,” running from Wednesday to Saturday, Oct. 1-4.
Presented by the Utica Parks & Recreation and supported by local businesses and non-profit groups, this year's homecoming offers something for all ages. Highlights include free nightly entertainment featuring the Matt Simmons Band, arts & crafts vendors, food trucks and booths, amusement rides, and two parades, including the traditional Homecoming Parade on Wednesday, Oct. 1, at 6 p.m.
A pet parade will take place on Saturday, Oct. 4, beginning promptly at 11 a.m. Participants are asked to arrive for the lineup at 10 a.m., with judging commencing at 10:30 a.m. Prizes will be awarded to first, second, and third place winners in each of the following categories: Children with Pets, Children in Costume, Decorated Vehicles, and Decorated Bicycles. Please note that motorized vehicles are not permitted in the parade.
The first 100 participants aged 12 and under will receive complimentary wristbands. To be eligible, children must be present and dressed in costume or aligned with a parade theme.
The community is also invited to a Pancake Breakfast event on Oct. 4, from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
“Join the Utica American Legion Auxiliary for breakfast before the Pet Parade,” the flyer reads.
The event will be held at 10 South Washington Street. Guests may enjoy unlimited servings, with admission based on voluntary donations. All proceeds will support local initiatives.
All Things Auction is also scheduled to take place on Oct. 4, at 2 p.m. Community members are invited to contribute items for auction, with each donor receiving public acknowledgment during the event. All items will be awarded to the highest bidder, and 100% of the proceeds will directly support the volunteer organization, Utica Parks and Recreation.
For additional information, including a full schedule, residents are encouraged to visit the Village of Utica’s website or its Parks & Recreation Facebook page.
