The Mount Vernon Nazarene University men's cross-country team participated in the All-Ohio Meet hosted by Cedarville University on September 19. The team finished 10th out of 20 teams, placing third among NAIA teams with a score of 240. Freshman Will Baker secured second place in the 8K race, narrowly missing first place by a tenth of a second to a runner from Rio Grande. Baker's time of 24:37.9 set a new school record, surpassing his previous record set at the IWU Twilight Meet.
Coach Taylor expressed satisfaction with the team's performance, noting their proximity to Shawnee State, ranked 24th in preseason polls. "Our men's team had another strong race at All-Ohio," said Taylor. He highlighted Baker's achievement and Mason Hendrickson's personal best under 26 minutes.
The Cougars will next compete at the OWU Invite in Delaware, Ohio, on October 3. Mount Vernon Nazarene University is a private Christian institution located on a 327-acre campus in Mount Vernon, Ohio. It serves nearly 2,100 students across various states and countries.
