The Mount Vernon Nazarene University women's soccer team secured a 5-1 victory against the University of Cincinnati Clermont on Wednesday, September 13. The match, held at MVNU's home ground, saw all five goals scored in the second half after a goalless first half.

Chelsea Simpson opened the scoring for the Lady Cougars in the 52nd minute. Alexis Hoffman then added two more goals, with assists from Avery Erslan and Emmie Hoffman, at the 77th and 81st minutes respectively. UC Clermont's Alexis Taylor managed to score in the 84th minute, narrowing the gap to 3-1. However, Aspen Scythes responded with her first career goal in the 86th minute. Sofia Terrell sealed the win with another debut goal just eight seconds before full-time.

Hannah Miller played a crucial role for MVNU by making six saves throughout the match. The Lady Cougars dominated offensively, outshooting their opponents 40-15 and placing 21 shots on target.

Looking ahead, MVNU will visit the University of Rio Grande on Wednesday, September 17 for their final game before conference play begins. The match is scheduled to kick off at 6:00 p.m.
