Mount Vernon Nazarene University's women's volleyball team, ranked 15th nationally, secured a victory against 16th-ranked Marian University in a five-set match at the PE Center on Friday. The Lady Cougars improved their record to 10-4 overall and 3-1 in the Crossroads League.
The match began with MVNU losing the first set 17-25 but bouncing back to win the second set 25-22. Marian University responded by taking the third set 25-21. However, MVNU dominated the fourth set with a decisive 25-10 win. In the final set, MVNU overcame an early deficit to secure a 15-12 victory.
Reagan Nuss played a pivotal role for MVNU, contributing significantly with 43 assists, 25 digs, five kills, and four blocks. Libby Evanshine led the team with 14 kills, adding eight digs and a block. Evelyn Brown recorded 13 kills while achieving a hitting percentage of .385. Jaelyn Tang anchored the defense with 34 digs.
MVNU's next match is scheduled for Wednesday, September 17, against No. 7 Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Indiana. The game will begin at 7:00 p.m.
