The Knox County Symphony Children’s Concert returns this fall at the Schnormeier Event Center in Ariel-Foundation Park, Mount Vernon. Held on Sunday, Sept 28, at 3 p.m., this free concert is part of Knox County Symphony's 2025-26 Concert Season series.
“Our Children’s Concert will again be held at Ariel-Foundation Park as our first public (and free!) presentation," the concert brochure reads. "We thank the Ariel-Foundation board of directors for inviting us again to close their summer series, and also the Gund Gallery Associates for providing activities–this year relating how both music and art can be mediums for telling stories.”
The Knox County Symphony Children's Concert will feature a diverse music that will appeal to audiences of all ages. In partnership with the Gund Gallery, Jodi Kovach, Deputy Director of Curatorial Affairs and Education, along with fellow gallery representatives, will lead a series of art-based activities designed specifically for younger guests. These activities will be thematically aligned with the orchestra’s performance, offering children a unique opportunity to explore the intersection of visual art and music.
The upcoming children’s concert is a featured event within the Knox County Symphony’s sixtieth consecutive season. This milestone season includes a full lineup of performances: the Fall Concert will take place on Oct. 25, followed by the Winter Concert next year on Jan. 31, and concluding with the Spring Concert on April 26.
In addition to these seasonal performances, the symphony will host the Knox County Symphony Young Musicians Competition on Saturday, Oct. 4. For further details about the competition, reach out to Dr. Benjamin Locke via his email address, lockeb@kenyon.edu.
Dr. Locke, head of the choral program at Kenyon College, is starting his forty-second year as the Knox County Symphony's conductor.
