The Public Library of Mount Vernon & Knox County is hosting a variety of events from September 8 to 13, 2025. These activities cater to different age groups and interests, ranging from teen programs to adult discussions.
The Teen MakerSpace invites teens in grades 6-12 to "Wand"er Back to Hogwarts on Monday, September 8, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Participants can enjoy themed snacks and beverages while a wand chooses them. No registration is required for this event.
For younger children, the library offers a "Stuffed Animal Sleepover." On Wednesday, September 9, stuffed animals can be dropped off between 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. The following day, children are invited to join a Storytime program from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., where they will discover what their stuffed animals did overnight. Registration is necessary for this event.
Adults can attend "Senior Conversations," presented by Hospice of the Western Reserve on September 9 at the library's Multipurpose Room from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. This series addresses topics relevant to seniors and their caregivers.
A Retro Cinema screening of "Murphy's War" will take place on Tuesday, September 9, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., also in the Multipurpose Room. The film is rated PG-13 and open to the public.
"Sewing with Lisa," a two-part program starting on Wednesday, September 10, will teach participants how to maintain sewing machines and organize tools in preparation for an October project where they will sew machine covers.
Storytime sessions continue at various locations including Gambier Community Library and Fredericktown Community Library throughout the week without requiring registration.
Fredericktown Community Library will celebrate National Coloring Day on Wednesday, September 10, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., providing supplies for all ages.
Additionally, the Fredericktown Community Library Cookbook Club meets monthly on the second Thursday at 5:30 p.m., encouraging participants to prepare recipes from selected cookbooks available at the library.
