The Mount Vernon Nazarene University men's cross-country team had a promising start to their season at the IWU Twilight Meet, hosted by Indiana Wesleyan University on September 5. The team finished 11th out of 20 teams, scoring a total of 275 points. Indiana Wesleyan University took first place in the event.
Will Baker led the Mount Vernon Nazarene University (MVNU) team with a time of 24:50.10, placing fifth overall. Other notable performances included Mason Hendrickson in 57th place and Ryan Lehman in 74th place. Coach Taylor expressed satisfaction with the team's performance, stating, "Our men's team had a breakout race tonight. We ran against a loaded field of the top nine teams all in the NAIA national poll." He also highlighted Will Baker's achievement of breaking the school record that stood for ten years and praised sophomore David Burkholder for his significant contribution to the team's improved time.
The next competition for MVNU will be at the All-Ohio Meet hosted by Cedarville University on September 19, starting at 6:00 p.m.
