Mount Vernon Nazarene concludes Summer Slam tournament with mixed results

The Mount Vernon Nazarene University women's volleyball team concluded their participation in the Summer Slam 2025 tournament in Fullerton, California, with a mixed performance. The Lady Cougars faced No. 2 Bellevue University from Nebraska and were defeated in straight sets, with scores of 25-15, 25-23, and 25-22. Libby Evanshine and Faith Maloney each contributed seven kills for MVNU, while Maloney also added three blocks. Jaeyln Tang led the team with 13 digs, and Reagan Nuss recorded 21 assists along with 12 digs.

In their second match of the day, MVNU rebounded by sweeping Life Pacific with scores of 25-14, 25-23, and 25-12. Maloney again led the team with 12 kills, supported by Evelyn Brown's ten kills. Tang and Morgan Schlabach each provided ten digs for the Lady Cougars; Schlabach also achieved seven kills. Nuss delivered another strong performance with 27 assists and four digs.

Looking ahead, MVNU will host their home opener at Ariel Arena against the University of Rio Grande on Wednesday, August 27 at 7:00 p.m.
