The American Red Cross Central & Southern Ohio Region has announced an initiative for blood donors between August 1 and 28, 2025. Those who donate during this period will receive a free A1C screening and a $15 e-gift card. This initiative is part of the organization's efforts to promote National Wellness Month and maintain a steady supply of blood, particularly from type O positive and B negative donors.

According to the American Red Cross, donors in August who successfully give blood, platelets, or plasma will have access to their A1C screening results within one to two weeks through their donor account. The organization is emphasizing the importance of these donations in maintaining adequate blood supplies.

Knox County residents can donate at various locations throughout August, including Centerburg Church of Christ, Saint Luke Community Center in Danville, Kenyon College in Gambier, and several others. Similarly, Licking County offers multiple donation sites such as Daybreak Church in Etna and St. Edwards Catholic Church in Granville.

The American Red Cross Central & Southern Ohio Region serves nearly six million people across 47 counties spanning Ohio, Northern Kentucky, and Southeast Indiana. It provides disaster relief services, emergency preparedness training, mental health support, and supplies approximately 40% of the nation’s blood supply. The region operates five chapter locations and six blood donation centers with volunteers comprising about 90% of its workforce.
