Experience Mount Vernon, a non-profit organization, is committed to enhancing Downtown Mount Vernon through various community development initiatives. The group aims to provide an authentic local experience in the downtown area.

One of the highlights this month is the "I Love the Dog Fountain" apparel shop, which has recently opened. The online store will remain open until August 13th at midnight, with part of the proceeds supporting the maintenance of the Dog Fountain.

Several events are scheduled throughout August. On Friday, August 1st, Griffin Insurance presents "Dog Days of Summer" from 6:00-9:00 p.m. in Downtown Mount Vernon. Other events include the Farmers Market on August 2nd and a Fabulous Family Dance Party later that day at Ariel-Foundation Park.

The Sundays on the Square Artisan Market will take place on August 3rd at Public Square. The Mount Vernon Music & Arts Festival runs from August 7th to 10th in Downtown Mount Vernon.

From August 11th to 17th, activities include Front Porch Concerts on August 15th and New Directions' "Color for a Cause" event on August 16th at Ariel-Foundation Park. The Wedding Resale Market and Praisestock 2025 are set for August 17th.

Old Mr. Bailiwick’s birthday celebration is planned for August 23rd along with Jay Leno's live performance at Knox Memorial Theater that evening.

In late August, Teen Video Game Night occurs on August 25th at the Public Library of Mount Vernon & Knox County, followed by an Adult Craft Night featuring glass tumbler painting on August 28th.
