The Licking County Board of Commissioners has appointed Christel Hamper as the permanent Clerk to the Board, effective August 1. This decision follows her tenure as interim clerk.
"Having worked with the commissioners for the past seven and a half years, I look forward to continuing to serve Licking County in this new capacity. I’m grateful for the mentorship of Bev Adzic and David Edelblute and excited for what lies ahead," Hamper said, according to a news release.
According to the release, Hamper has been part of the commissioners' office since 2017, initially serving as an administrative assistant and later as deputy clerk. She assumed interim responsibilities following the retirement of longtime Clerk/Administrator Bev Adzic in December 2024.
Hamper has played a significant role in modernizing office processes, including implementing resolution management software that reduced paper usage substantially.
Before joining Licking County, Hamper lived and worked in Marion, Ohio, where she was involved in the medical field. Her career began as a state-tested nurse aide before she transitioned to working as a surgical scrub technician in labor and delivery. She furthered her education to become a medical coding and billing specialist and contributed to developing a patient portal for secure access to health information.
In her free time, Hamper enjoys exploring Licking County. She serves as secretary of the Licking County Senior Levy Advisory Board and previously served on the Licking County Spay/Neuter Foundation board.
