Knox County has announced the promotion of Kyle Webb to Chief Information Officer following his completion of a Master of Science in Cybersecurity from Franklin University. Webb, who has led the county's IT department since its inception in September 2019, is recognized for building a secure and efficient technology infrastructure. "Without technology, county operations can come to a screeching halt," Webb said, emphasizing the importance of cybersecurity.
Alongside Webb's promotion, Trevor Ditmars has been named Deputy Chief Information Officer. Ditmars, previously Assistant Director of IT and current Systems Administrator, has been crucial in supporting the department's operations. Jason Booth, County Administrator, praised their work: "Kyle has established a team of highly skilled IT professionals. I am proud of the work they do on a daily basis for Knox County."
The IT department has expanded significantly over five and a half years, now including service agreements with local municipalities such as Mount Vernon and Gambier. This expansion covers helpdesk support, systems administration, cybersecurity, network infrastructure, and media communications.
Webb expressed his dedication to public service: "I hope to continue to serve the citizens of Knox County as a public servant coming from a family of public servants." Despite not following in his family's footsteps as police officers or firefighters, he finds fulfillment in resolving technical issues.
