Mount Vernon High School's Team 76 concluded the 2025 baseball season with a notable legacy, transcending mere statistics of wins and losses.
Under the leadership of head coach Nate Hunt, the Yellow Jackets varsity baseball team finished their season with an 18-10 record. According to Hunt, this campaign was characterized by grit, veteran leadership, and unyielding effort. "This team was tough, gritty, and fought until the very last pitch," Hunt said. "They had a historic season and a lot to be proud of."
The team was bolstered by ten experienced seniors who excelled both on the mound with 164 strikeouts and in critical offensive moments. However, Hunt acknowledged areas for improvement: reducing defensive errors, minimizing strikeouts, and limiting walks to leadoff batters remain key objectives moving forward.
Standout players such as Kayden Packard, Ezra Kurek, Nolan Hershberger, Zac Clow, and Dammon Wolfe were instrumental in setting a standard for future success. "Team 76 laid the blueprint for what it takes to make a run in the postseason," Hunt said. With a young and athletic roster set to return next season, the Yellow Jackets aim to build on this foundation and potentially realize their aspiration of establishing a state-of-the-art hitting facility.
