Trojans falter late as Coldwater pulls away | Centerburglocalschools

Centerburg's baseball team faced a challenging match against Coldwater, ultimately succumbing to a 7-0 defeat on Wednesday evening at Pioneer Road. The game remained tightly contested for six innings until defensive errors in the sixth and seventh innings determined the outcome.

According to reports, Centerburg's right-hander Daniel Lemaster delivered a commendable performance, striking out eight batters and allowing only four hits over seven innings. The game was scoreless until Coldwater capitalized on an error in the sixth inning to score their first run.

Coldwater's offense gained momentum in the seventh inning, scoring six runs on four hits. This included two-run singles by Bennett Spriggs and Karsyn Homan, which highlighted vulnerabilities in Centerburg’s defense despite Lemaster's strong pitching effort.

The Trojans had early opportunities to score with hits from Mason Vallance, Clarke Redd, and Vinny Morgan but were unable to bring runners home. Aaron Kaup secured the win for Coldwater by pitching five shutout innings with six strikeouts and no walks.

Despite the final scoreline, Centerburg maintained competitiveness throughout most of the game. However, defensive lapses proved costly, transforming what was initially a close contest into a decisive victory for Coldwater.
