On a night characterized by intense competition, the East Knox Bulldogs secured a 3-1 victory over Elgin on Friday, with Caleb Armstrong delivering an outstanding performance on the mound.

Armstrong, a senior right-hander, pitched a complete game, allowing only three hits and one run while striking out five. His effort provided the Bulldogs with the necessary edge in what was described as a classic pitcher's duel.

According to reports, the game's pivotal moment occurred in the bottom of the third inning. Luke Holsinger hit a single down the right field line to score the first run. Shortly after, Jaxon Lester drew a bases-loaded walk, increasing East Knox's lead to 2-0 in a game heavily influenced by pitching.

Elgin managed to score once but Armstrong maintained his composure under pressure. He consistently shut down scoring opportunities for Elgin by relying on his defense and skillfully varying his pitches.

Mitchell Askew started strong for Elgin, giving up five hits over six innings and striking out six. Despite limiting East Knox to two earned runs, he was ultimately outperformed by Armstrong's control and confidence.

Zayne Grennell contributed significantly to East Knox's offense with a perfect 2-for-2 performance at bat. Lester, Holsinger, and Cash Cook each drove in runs through timely hitting rather than power plays.

C. Ware led Elgin offensively with one hit in three at-bats and drove in their only run. Zempter, Askew, and Ware each recorded hits for the Comets, who also executed a clean double play defensively.

In this contest dominated by pitching prowess and precise execution, it was East Knox that prevailed when it counted most—thanks largely to Armstrong's efforts on the mound.
