Family Nature Quest: Befriending Bats | The Brown Family Environmental Center, Facebook

On May 24, families will have the opportunity to learn more about the nocturnal wonders at the Family Nature Quest: Befriending Bats event at the Brown Family Environmental Center (BFEC).

The event will take place at the BFEC Picnic Pavilion, and pre-registration is required, as slots are limited to 10 families. Those interested in attending can reserve their spots by emailing schutte1@kenyon.edu or calling 740.427.5053.

Families will take part in a hands-on activity, building their own bat houses to take home. This interactive experience allows participants to support bat conservation efforts while creating a lasting connection to wildlife.

During this engaging program, participants will also explore the scientific significance of bats, including their potential role in medical research. Scientists have been studying bats for their unique immune systems, which may hold clues to combating diseases like cancer.

Bats are often misunderstood creatures, shrouded in mystery and myth. This nature quest will help the community to better understand the role of bats in the ecosystem.
