Licking County Aging Partners (LCAP) has released the findings of the Age-Friendly Licking County Community Assessment. This initiative evaluated the quality of life for residents aged 60 and older in Licking County. The survey, developed with The Center for Community Solutions in Cleveland and guided by the AARP Livable Communities Initiative, was distributed to 4,000 residents in August 2024, receiving nearly 700 responses.
The assessment aimed to understand the needs and priorities of older adults in Licking County. Findings will inform a three-year action plan focusing on health systems, housing, transportation, communication access, and social support networks. Key findings indicate that one in five older adults is living in poverty or at risk of poverty. Additionally, 25% live alone, increasing their risk for isolation and decline.
Kimberly Hosler, LCAP’s Age-Friendly Coordinator, said: "While the survey highlighted significant challenges residents face, it also revealed opportunities to implement meaningful advancements that will make Licking County an even better place for everyone to live."
The full assessment data is available at lcap.org/age-friendly. Community members are encouraged to explore the data and participate in building a more age-friendly community.
