A Fredericktown, Ohio, woman died after a crash in Morrow County on Monday after being flown by Medflight to Ohio Health Grant Medical Center. | Big Walnut Fire/EMS

An 81-year-old woman from Fredericktown, Ohio, has died following a traffic accident on April 28 at 11:37 a.m. The incident occurred on State Route 95 at Township Road 176 in Chester Township, Morrow County.

According to a news release from the Mount Gilead Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Shirley Estridge was driving a 2025 Chevrolet Trax southbound on Township Road 176 when she failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign. Her vehicle was struck by a 2021 Dodge Charger driven by Ethan Licthenberger, aged 20, from Mount Gilead, Ohio.

The release states that Estridge was airlifted from the scene by Medflight to Ohio Health Grant Medical Center in Columbus with serious injuries. She later succumbed to these injuries. It was noted that Estridge was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Licthenberger sustained minor injuries and was taken to Morrow County Hospital. He was not wearing a seat belt during the collision.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol reported that they were assisted at the scene by Big Walnut Fire/EMS and Morrow County Fire/EMS. Alcohol is not suspected as a factor in this crash, which remains under investigation.
