Sugar and Spice; Utica's go-to for bites, treats, and local eats

Business

Sugar and Spice is a hot spot for Utica residents to stop in for a sandwich, panini, wrap, or just a sweet treat. The establishment also houses a grocery store deli where customers can browse an array of dry goods, spices, candy, baked goods, and fresh produce.

If stopping for lunch doesn’t pique your interest, Sugar and Spice also serves all-day breakfast on Fridays and Saturdays. It’s the perfect spot for a quick bite before work or a leisurely weekend brunch.

While Sugar and Spice is not new to the community, its move to a new location along State Route 62 on Utica’s west side came with some exciting upgrades, including a dining space and a larger retail area.

One of the shop’s most charming traditions is its weekly “Names of the Week” promotion. Every Sunday, Sugar and Spice posts five male and five female names on Facebook. Each day, one of each is eligible for a free sandwich (valued up to $6.99) if a customer with that name stops in. Adults must show their driver's license, and children are exempt from having to show ID. There is a one-letter variation allowed, but nicknames and abbreviations do not count.

One of the more intriguing items on the menu is a breakfast sandwich called “The Morning Glaze.” This indulgent breakfast sandwich features classic sausage, egg, and cheese—but with a twist. Instead of bread, the fillings are nestled between two sweet glazed donuts.

Whether you’re in the market for locally sourced produce and eggs, freshly baked pastries, or a quick lunch spot, Sugar and Spice is a great place to stop for all your fresh food needs.
