The Mount Vernon Yellow Jackets Varsity baseball team secured a 3-1 victory over the visiting Lexington team on Saturday afternoon, driven by an outstanding performance from senior pitcher Zac Clow.

According to reports, Clow was in complete control on the mound, striking out ten batters and allowing no walks in a complete-game effort. The right-hander allowed just five hits and one earned run, effectively neutralizing the Minutemen's offense. Lexington initially took the lead with a run in the fourth inning from a Cole Eichorn RBI single, but Mount Vernon quickly responded.

Mount Vernon gained the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning with timely hits from Clow and Nolan Hershberger, scoring three runs. The Jackets maintained their advantage for the remainder of the game. Hershberger contributed significantly to the team's success, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs. The Jackets also demonstrated their speed on the basepaths by stealing four bases and applying consistent pressure on Lexington’s defense. Defensively, they executed a smooth double play to support Clow's dominant pitching.

Lexington's starting pitcher Gage Powell took the loss after conceding three runs on five hits over 4.1 innings. He managed six strikeouts but struggled with command, issuing five walks. Despite efforts from Eichorn and Powell, who each recorded two hits for Lexington, it was insufficient against Clow’s exceptional performance.

With this win, Mount Vernon continues to build momentum as they progress into the core of their season. They are set to return to action on Monday when they host Granville Blue Aces.
